about

Reflections on Self consists of ten instrumental electronic pieces, with each devoted to the conflicts and cease-fires of personal self-examination. A melody is a melody, and not a lyric (or a cigar--nothing smokes here). Nonetheless, each track is intended as a kind of tone poem to illustrate its title.

In keeping with most Gurdonark work, this album is licensed with a Creative Commons license for easy re-use. Please attribute the song to Gurdonark and link to this page.

All music and samples created by Robert H. Nunnally, Jr., who records as Gurdonark. Special thanks to Thomas Park, who records as Mystified, for telling an unrelated anecdote that in a way led to the song titles and theme of this album.

Many thanks to IXI-Software.net, whose musical tools helped Gurdonark a decade ago and still help create Gurdonark music today. Thanks also to the maintainers of Audacity, the creators of Sawcutter 2.0 and Tunafish, and those who make freeware VST software synthesizers. In addition, thanks to all the folks who make the little cheap ocarinas, slide whistles, recorders and flutes used for samples in much of this work.

Huge thanks to Thomas Mathie, whose support of Creative Commons artists at We are All Ghosts netlabel regularly inspires me.

I like to share using Creative Commons licenses.

I use freeware, shareware, simple commercial-ware and imagination to create songs and ambient pieces which serve as the background for daydreams around the world.
